United States - November 22, 2024 Two bear cubs, once rescued from urban areas, were released back into the wild on Friday, November 22, thanks to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). One cub had been found wandering Longmont earlier this year, while the other came from Colorado Springs. After months at the Del Norte rehabilitation facility, the cubs were prepared for hibernation. CPW staff scaled back feeding schedules to mimic natural conditions, helping the young bears adapt to life in the wild. “We want bears to thrive in Colorado,” CPW shared, emphasizing their commitment to the species' survival. A lighthearted moment from the release? Shouting "bear" worked to guide the cubs toward their new freedom.
