Huge cobra curled up in car engine caught by wildlife team
This is the terrifying moment a huge cobra was found curled up in a car engine in Thailand.
The 13ft (4m) snake sparked panic when it slithered inside a female resident's Toyota car in Trat province on November 27 evening.
Local snake wranglers said they received a report at 7 pm. They arrived at the home, where the terrified woman was standing near the vehicle.
Footage shows the wildlife team propping up the car bonnet with a wooden stick before snaring the cobra with a catch pole. They then dragged the aggressive reptile - seen in the video writhing as it bared its fangs - onto the ground and bagged it inside a sack.
The homeowner said: 'I heard my dogs barking at something in the garden. I went to check what was wrong and I found the cobra slithering in the grass. It entered the car so I called the rescue team for help.'
Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
