Police raided an illegal Chinese-owned beauty clinic in Bangkok.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) Investigation Division stormed the YF Salon in the Huai Khwang district following a tip-off that salon with links to the Communist rogue state had been offering services without a valid license.

The salon had six floors, each offering different services like filler injections, manicures and pedicures, vitamin drips, and cosmetic surgery.

Police Major General Teeradej Thumsutee, commander of the MPB Investigation Division, said on November 27 that seven suspects - three Chinese and four Burmese - were arrested. They were named by police as Chinese nationals Wen Chun, 28, and Gao Juan, 44, and Tai Yai people Hom, 18, Moo Dang, 19, Kham Kaew, 20, and Chantakan Saeli, 19.

The business was owned by Ren Xuemei, 42, who initially claimed she was only a customer. She later admitted that she opened an unlicensed beauty clinic in Thailand 'because there was too much competition in China'.

She also allegedly confessed that none of her staff were authorised medical practitioners, adding their doctor gowns had been purchased online.

Officers seized evidence including an advertisement brochure, memory cards from security cameras, an account book for massage services, a set of receipt copies, rental and other related documents, and nine customer receipts.

They also confiscated two white gowns, various bottles of chemicals, syringes, intravenous infusion sets, medical gloves, and medical waste.

MPB commander Teeradej said: 'After the arrest, we handed all suspects and seized items over to the inquiry officer of Makkasan Police Station for further legal action.'

The raid came amid a crackdown on quack doctors and illegal beauty clinics in Thailand.

In late August, the Central Investigation Bureau raided four unlicensed clinics and detained five quack doctors in Phuket and Rayong provinces.

While on September 3, British beautician Thomas Foley, 42, was detained ata rental house in Surat Thani province after a botched procedure that allegedly left a customer with facial paralysis.
