This is the heartwarming moment a stray dog trapped under a pile of old electric posts was rescued in Thailand.

The hapless mutt had squeezed into the tight gap to take shelter but was left wedged under the concrete beams in Pattaya City on November 23.

Passers-by who heard it whimpering called the local authorities for assistance.

Footage shows the animal rescue team using a crane to lift the electric poles. An officer then grabbed the scared male dog, believed to be around two years old, and placed it inside a cage.

Villager Sukanya Ngernpiem, 42, said: 'Someone posted on social media about the dog being trapped. I was concerned for it so I checked the area and found it was really there.'

Sukanya volunteered to temporarily take care of the pooch and vowed to find it a permanent home.
