This is the amusing moment wild turkeys enjoyed a Thanksgiving jaunt in front of a family's home.

Seven feathered creatures were spotted roaming freely on a lawn along a street in Ormond Beach, Florida, on November 27.

Footage captured by Joel Albair shows the birds pecking at the grass in search of food and strutting around the area.

Joel said: 'These wild turkeys obviously don't care it's two days before Thanksgiving.'

Turkeys became a popular dish for Thanksgiving and eventually symbolised the holiday thanks to Sarah Josepha Hale, the 'Godmother of Thanksgiving.' She emphasised the roasted turkey as one of the traditional meals in her popular cookbook.

The tradition was later adopted nationwide after Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863.
