US, Los Angeles: Brea Fatal Officer Involved Shooting
Los Angeles, United States - November 28, 2024 11/28/2024 04:44 pm (GMT-0800) BREA, Calif. – A Brea police officer was involved in a crash with shots fired on East Lambert Road and the 57 Freeway. It is unknown at this time what led up to the crash or the shooting. Also unclear at this time is if anyone was struck or if the officer was injured. Brea PD had closed both the east and westbound lanes of Lambert Road. CHP was on the scene and assisting with traffic control. CHP closed the off-ramp on the northbound 57 Freeway to the Lambert Road exit. Detectives arrived on the scene and are taking over the investigation. UPDATE PRESS RELEASE FROM BREA PD: PRESS RELEASE: On November 28, at approximately 4:42 p.m., Brea PD Officers were notified of a possible DUl driver in the area of Lambert and the 57 Freeway. Officers responded and found a vehicle matching the description up against a retaining wall in the westbound lanes of Lambert, east of the 57 freeway. Officers made contact with the driver. A short time later, an officer involved shooting occurred. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff. Per department policy, the Orange County District Attorney's office responded to the scene to initiate an investigation into the circumstances of the officer involved shooting.
