US, Los Angeles: Studio City Hydrant Crash
Los Angeles, United States - November 28, 2024 11/28/2024 11:35 pm (GMT-0800) STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES – An older couple escaped injury Thursday night after their vehicle struck a fire hydrant on Laurel Canyon Boulevard, sending a geyser of water approximately 30 feet into the air and disrupting traffic in the area. The incident occurred in the 3200 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed that the man and woman in the compact vehicle were uninjured. Crews worked for approximately 10 minutes to stop the flow of water. Southbound lanes of Laurel Canyon Boulevard were closed as emergency crews addressed the incident. An LAPD Valley Traffic Division officer redirected traffic, utilizing the two northbound lanes to allow vehicles to pass through the area. According to the officer, the couple lost control of their vehicle due to poor visibility in the dark. The officer noted that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
