This is the heartwarming moment locals applaud hardworking police for their help in cleaning up after Storm DANA struck Spain.

Dramatic footage shows residents and children in a playground cheering for the officers in Massanassa on November 26, expressing their gratitude.

Officers from the GOIT (Technical Intervention Operations Group), UIP (Police Intervention Unit), and Police Academy students worked together to clean up local parks.

The officers also thanked the community for the recognition.

They said: 'This is the reward we take from today.'

Torrential rains battered Valencia, Spain, in late October. The ensuing floods resulted in more than 200 deaths, with several still missing, after the intense downpours overwhelmed riverbanks, damaged infrastructure, and forced thousands to evacuate.

The freak weather was said to be caused by a phenomenon locally referred to as 'Depresion Aislada en Niveles Altos' or DANA - an air mass that is colder than its surroundings at higher levels. The temperature difference creates an unstable atmosphere that triggers heavy rainfall in a very short period.
