STORYLINE:

An event on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) was held in Prague on Thursday to promote wellness and cultural exchange while celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Czech Republic.

Speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Feng Biao said that the Chinese government attaches importance to promoting TCM, fostering exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations.

The event brought together nearly 100 TCM enthusiasts, and several local people shared their experiences in learning TCM, using it to treat illnesses, and pursuing careers in the field.

"Chinese medicine is so vast. It's too much to study, and it somehow enriches my life that I can help some people."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): JUDITA HALVOVA, TCM practitioner
"Chinese medicine for me is a gift, a gift for the whole planet. We can help each other or a patient through the Chinese medicine."

Guan Xin, director of the Czech-Chinese Center for TCM Development, said as a TCM doctor, he has observed a growing demand for TCM among the Czech public over the past eight years.

"The public's need for TCM remains significant, which indicates that TCM has tremendous development potential not only in the Czech Republic but also across Europe," he said, noting that the event allowed the participants to experience TCM concepts up close, and in turn, appreciate the essence of Chinese culture.

During the event, some participants also presented performances of traditional Chinese music and demonstrated traditional Chinese exercises such as Tai Chi.
