Majestic bearded vulture seen peering over mountains in Switzerland

Buy video

A majestic bearded vulture was seen perched on a cliff in the Swiss Alps near Ardon.

The filmer said: "The bearded vulture needs wind and/or warm rising air, to fly. He is a hang glider, it is very exhausting for him to fly by moving his wings, he usually is seen just flying without effort. But here the air was calm, very cold and heavy, no wind, no updraft. So he landed on this rock to rest a little bit, and a group of common ravens appeared and flew close-up to annoy him."
