Crowds braved the rain for Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York.

Thousands of spectators gathered together to celebrate the iconic three-hour holiday parade amid rainfall on November 28.

Footage shows attendees in raincoats and holding umbrellas along the roadside, eagerly awaiting the annual event.

City officials said: 'Rain or shine, there's no stopping the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!'

Local media reported that the 98th edition of the parade showcased 22 giant balloons, 34 dazzling floats, and 7 wheeled 'balloonicles,' a cold-air inflatable controlled by a vehicle.

Highlights included floats of cartoon characters and animals such as 1-2-3 Sesame Street, McDonald's Big Red Shoe Car, a giant golden turkey, Lego's The Brick-Changer, and Camp Snoopy, among other festive and Christmas-themed displays.

The parade also featured professional marching bands and animals borrowed from the Central Park Zoo.

Macy's, an American department store chain founded in 1858 by Rowland Hussey Macy, launched the Thanksgiving parade in New York City in 1924. It is the second-oldest Thanksgiving parade in the U.S., following America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit.
