Firemen show how frying a turkey can cause a kitchen fire
A firefighter demonstrated how frying a turkey can lead to a kitchen fire.
The Chicago Fire Department (CFD), in collaboration with Home Depot and the Illinois State Fire Marshal, showed the dangers of deep-frying turkeys ahead of the Thanksgiving celebration.
They warned that mishandling a fryer or cooking a frozen turkey could result in serious fire hazards.
Footage shows an official lowering the turkey attached to a rope into a cauldron of boiling hot oil. Upon impact, the oil ignited, causing a fiery explosion that engulfed the pot in flames.
This prompted one of the firefighters to extinguish the blaze using a water hose.
Authorities are urging residents to prioritise safety during the holiday season.
