Sand artists made a terrifying gargoyle-like face at a beach in Bali.

Footage shows the locals scraping their 3D art on the ground to add more details to it in the holiday island in Indonesia on November 23.

The group depicted a Balinese mythological creature called 'Barong' which is known to be the king of spirits, representing the good, and protector against evil.

One of the artists Nyoman Yukima Ugrasena said: 'We like to do sand art during our free time. It costs us nothing for the materials and have fun.'

While the sand art appears to be a gargoyle, Barong is depicted in the myths as having a lion-like face and large, wide eyes, symbolising vigilance, protection, and divine awareness.
