Photographer Brad Josephs captured an intense scene as a mother bear battled ferociously to defend her cubs from an aggressive male in Katmai National Park, Alaska.

The filmer told Newsflare: "One of the cubs was killed by the male, but the one which fell off the cliff climbed the cliff and survived. I filmed this while guiding bear viewing expedition, which I have done since the late 1990s (25 years)."
