A bear rescued from a dumpster is now full of life at a sanctuary in Texas.

Footage shows Eve, the once hairless bear, now with a thick coat of fur at Black Beauty Ranch on December 2.

Authorities said Eve was discovered on Christmas Eve in 2017 in Northern California, weighing just 30 lbs (13.6 kg) and suffering from severe mange.

After five years at the 1,400-acre sanctuary, she has undergone a remarkable transformation and now weighs 160 lbs (72.6 kg).

Eve can roam freely in her natural habitat, climb trees, splash in her pool, and forage for food scattered by her caretakers.

Sue Tygielski, Senior Director of Black Beauty Ranch, said: 'Eve has been through so much and has come into her own. She is thriving and living the life she deserves.'

Eve shares her sanctuary with three other bears and enjoys observing her neighbours, including a retired circus bear and a mother-son duo.
