US: Avalanche Drill Shakes Mountains in Utah's Cottonwood Canyons
United States - December 02, 2024 Cottonwood Canyons, Utah — A controlled avalanche drill by UDOT Cottonwood Canyons sent shockwaves through the area, captured on video with a booming explosion. The test firing, part of avalanche mitigation efforts, temporarily closed SR-210 but ensured the safety of the road and backcountry. Following the successful equipment testing, the road reopened, allowing safe travel to Alta and Snowbird. UDOT thanked the public for adhering to closures during the operation.
