A freediver was shocked when a cheeky fish swam between her legs and tried biting her crotch - sending her paddling back to the surface.

Angel Mendoza wore her two-piece swimsuit to glide to the seafloor to have a better look at a green sea turtle playing with another marine animal.

She was busy marvelling at the shelled creature that she did not notice the fish had not swum away - but it instead tried to nuzzle her private parts.

Footage shows Angel pulling away as the fish tried to nip her in the crotch.

She said: 'I wanted a video with the turtle, but the fish did something unexpected. I wonder why it wanted to bite me in the crotch.'

Angel was unhurt and the curious fish went on its way as she quickly floated back to the surface of the water in Batangas, the Philippines on November 26.
