STORYLINE:

Atletico Madrid is the main attraction on the third day of Copa del Rey second-round ties on Thursday as Diego Simeone's side travels to play fourth-tier (RFEF II) Cacereno.

Atletico made hard work of its first-round game, needing a late penalty to take the lead in its 2-0 win away to sixth-tier amateur side, Vic, a month ago. However, it has improved considerably since then, winning its last two games 6-0 in the Champions League in Prague and 5-0 away to Valladolid in La Liga.

Other games on Thursday see Osasuna, without the injured Bryan Zaragoza, cross into North-Africa to face Ceuta, who two years ago beat Celta Vigo in the Copa and gave FC Barcelona a difficult time.

Getafe coach Jose Bordalas makes a trip back to his roots when his side travels to play Orihuela, another team from the RFEF II. Bordalas played for Orihuela's previous club in the early 1980s before moving into coaching and now he will be looking to end Getafe's poor recent record against lower-tier opposition.

New Alaves coach Eduardo Caudet makes his debut following the surprise sacking of Luis Garcia Plaza, away to Club Deportivo Minera, who is from the region of Murcia in the south-east of Spain.

Sevilla has a long trip to the northeastern province of Girona to play Olot (again from the RFEF), while Real Sociedad is in the town of Cuenca to play Conquense.

All of the top-flight sides will kick off as favorites, but will need to be careful to avoid the same fate as Espanyol, whose cup interest ended on Tuesday night with a humiliating 2-0 defeat to the minnows of Barbastro, who has assured itself a big-name tie when the draw for the third round is made next Monday.
