Artist turns leaf into a stunning sea turtle
An artist turned a leaf into a stunning sea turtle stencil.
Edimar Paclibar started cutting through leaves he collected from his garden to turn into awesome see-through portraits four years ago in Iloilo, the Philippines.
Timelapse footage shows the process by which Edimar makes the unique artwork. He started by using a pen to draw his outline and then used a cutter to carefully remove parts of the leaf to form an image.
It took him at least an hour to make the sea turtle stencil, which he said was one of his favourite subjects.
He said: 'Part of my advocacy is to use my talent to raise awareness about our environment. I believe people should be more aware of conservation and protection for these endangered species.'
Edimar added he began doing leaf art during the pandemic to keep himself busy.
He said: 'I had so much free time during the lockdown and it became a healthy habit.'
Leaf carving is a delicate form of art that uses leaves as the medium, turning them into stencils or decorative pieces.
