This is the inspiring moment a youngster with a speech impediment conquered his fears to perform at a Christmas show.

John Vergel Vega amazed the crowd by singing a heartfelt Filipino ballad during the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Got Talent event, held in celebration of International Disability Day in Camarines Norte, the Philippines, on December 2.

Footage shows John, dressed in a suit, passionately singing his rendition of the local song.

The audience was moved by his performance and can be seen applauding him.

Filmer Eloiza Abad said: 'As someone born without any disability, I used to struggle to let others hear me sing because I feared being criticised for not being a good singer.

'But this man has shown that nothing can stand in the way when you love what you do and want to prove yourself despite a disability.'

A speech impediment, also known as a speech disorder, is a communication disorder that makes it difficult to speak normally. People with speech impediments may have trouble forming words or making sounds that are understandable.
