An international seafood smuggling ring has been dismantled in Spain.

Police uncovered the criminal network involved in illegal shellfish extraction in the Ferrol estuary, arresting 14 individuals, one of whom was apprehended in Portugal on December 3.

The operation included six raids across Ferrol, A Coruna, and Portugal, exposing over a tonne of spoiled shellfish, 79,000 euros in cash, eight purification tanks, and forged documents.

The bust highlights efforts to fight illegal seafood trafficking in the region.
