St. Augustine, United States - November 30, 2024 [Note: video contains subtitles] A dramatic rescue unfolded early on November 30th when two 18-year-old females found themselves trapped inside a sinking vehicle in St. Augustine. At approximately 5:00 AM, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office (SJSO) and Fire Rescue received a 911 call from the teens, who were stranded in a vehicle submerged in water along Holmes Boulevard. As the vehicle slowly sank, Public Safety Telecommunicators kept the young women calm while emergency responders rushed to the scene. Deputy Jayde Glines entered the water and successfully rescued both occupants before the vehicle sank 20 feet underwater. The two teens were transported to UF Health St. Johns for precautionary evaluation, and the SJSO Dive Team assisted in recovering the submerged vehicle. Authorities suspect exhaustion may have contributed to the incident.
