This is the terrifying moment raging floodwaters washed away a bridge in Indonesia.

Footage shows the surging torrent sweeping away the wooden structure in Sukabumi Regency in West Java on December 4.

Soil and trees rolled down as the hillside collapsed across the river.

Onlooker Yans said: 'There have been landslides, floods, and heavy rainfall in the past three days. Hopefully, the bad weather will pass soon.'

Bey Machmudin, acting governor of West Java, said at least three people died and four were missing as floods and landslides hit the Sukabumi Regency in recent days.

He said in a statement on Thursday: 'The first focus is on evacuating residents, and the second focus is on transportation cut off by landslides. Several roads and bridges are also cut off. These are the main focus for now.'

The official added that the rainfall exceeded typical levels for this time of year.
