Lights swayed as a magnitude 5.7 earthquake rattled the Philippines.

Footage shows the string lights swaying at a resort in Ilocos Norte province early morning on December 4.

State seismological agency PHIVOLCS said the tremor was tectonic in origin, and struck 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) southwest of Bangui town at 2:54 am local time. It was recorded at a depth of 14 miles (23 kilometres).

The quake was felt at a 'strong' Intensity 5 in the provincial capital Laoag City, as well as neighbouring towns.

PHIVOLCS predicted aftershocks but said no damage was expected.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
