A tsunami warning for the San Francisco coast was lifted after sparking panic following a 7.0 magnitude earthquake.

The National Weather Service issued the alert after a quake struck near Eureka, Northern California, at 10:44 am on December 5.

Footage by Gohar Hassan Dar shows strong waves at Lands End, a popular San Francisco trail.

Authorities said the warning affected 5.3 million people across 500 miles of coastline, from Oregon to the Bay Area, prompting evacuations and calls to move to higher ground.
