STORYLINE:

On Nov. 1, the "Macao New Neighborhood" Seniors' Service Center in Hengqin officially opened.

It offers more comprehensive and diverse services for seniors aged 55 and above living in Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

"We hope to help these Macao residents adapt more quickly to life and development in Hengqin. To achieve this, we have done a lot of work, aiming to help them rebuild their social circles, create a stronger sense of belonging, meet new friends, and access more opportunities for growth. The services provided in Hengqin can be divided into two main areas: one is elderly care services. For some seniors, we encourage them to engage more with the community, build relationships with others, and develop their interests. For those who are disabled or less mobile, we offer home visits, rehabilitation therapy, and physiotherapy services. And our staff will help them bathe, deliver meals, and accompany them to clinics. The other area is community services. We provide community programs for people of different age groups, including family services, youth programs, and educational initiatives aimed at fostering a strong sense of community. We are committed to supporting these efforts."

The service center began trial operations in June 2024. By Nov. 30, it had offered over 23,000 services.
