An out-of-control barge crashed into a ferry and injured a passenger in Thailand.

The barge reportedly lost control amid strong currents along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok on December 4.

Footage shows the vessel that was transporting sand hitting a ferry. It struck a ferry and five other boats docked near the Krungthep Bridge.

Authorities said a 40-seater boat sank in the water, while a female passenger suffered a head injury. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police Lieutenant General Saksira Phueakum, commissioner of the Tourist Police, said they were investigating the incident with the Marine Department.

The Chao Phraya River is a vital transportation and tourism route in Thailand. However, it is also the site of various accidents, often involving ferries, cargo ships, and small tourist boats. The accidents are usually caused by poor weather conditions and navigational challenges, especially during peak seasons or monsoon periods.
