This is the dramatic moment a jeep carrying residents trying to flee floods in Indonesia was washed away by the raging torrents.

Footage shows the vehicle being dragged away by the muddy torrents that inundated the Sukabumi region of West Java on December 4.

Officials at the National Disaster Agency said heavy rain had caused landslides and flash floods. At least five people were killed and seven are missing.

Thousands of homes and pieces of civil infrastructure including bridges and roads have been damaged.

Mr Abdul Muhari, the spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), said: 'As of Dec 6 at 9am, it was reported that the number of fatalities had increased to five people in total.'
