US, Los Angeles: Newbury Park Homicide Investigation Into Death of Juvenile
Los Angeles, United States - December 05, 2024 12/05/2024 08:03 pm (GMT-0800) NEWBURY PARK, Calif. – The Ventura County Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to the brutal death of a 15-year-old male Thursday evening in Newbury Park. Shortly after 8 p.m., Thousand Oaks deputies responded to an ambulance follow-up on the 400 block of Jeanne Court. Upon arrival, deputies found a male juvenile inside a residence who had sustained blunt-force trauma to their head, and the suspect was an adult male. The two are known to each other, according to Deputy Ashley Barrios with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, who spoke with KNN on-camera overnight. The juvenile was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. The adult male was later located and arrested. Barrios said there is no threat to the public and no outstanding suspects. The investigation is still active and ongoing. In an update Friday afternoon, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office announced via Nixle that Zuberi Sharp, 24, was identified as the suspect. He was booked for murder at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is currently held without bail. The incident is currently under investigation as a homicide, and an autopsy is pending. The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death of the juvenile. The sheriff's office has not yet revealed the relationship between the suspect and the juvenile. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Javier Chavez at (805) 384-4725.
