Dramatic footage shows a Boeing 737-500 operated by flag carrier Ariana Afghan Airlines emitting thick smoke from the auxiliary power unit (APU) exhaust at Kabul International Airport on December 6, around 8:02 am.
Technicians quickly assessed the aircraft and performed routine maintenance while it was taken out of service.
Reports confirm there were no casualties in the incident.
Ariana Afghan Airlines, the national carrier of Afghanistan, operates from Kabul International Airport. It offers both domestic flights and international connections to destinations in China, India, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the UAE.
The airline's fleet includes three Airbus A310-300s, two Boeing 737-400s, and one Boeing 737-500.
