US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Vehicle into Furniture Building

Bakersfield, United States - December 09, 2024 12/09/2024 12:36 am (GMT-0800) BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Two vehicles crashed into a vacant furniture store early Monday morning near Chester Avenue and 24th Street, leaving one driver with major injuries and another with minor injuries. The Bakersfield Fire Department responded to the incident just before 1 a.m., finding a black Toyota Prius and a gray Hyundai SUV that had collided and struck the building. The driver of the Prius sustained major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical Center, while the driver of the Hyundai was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating the crash. Citiguard assisted police with traffic control as some vehicles attempted to bypass law enforcement roadblocks at the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
