The astonishing video shows Russian authorities catching members of the Colombian Cali cartel who were attempting to smuggle nearly 600 kilos of cocaine into Europe.

Footage shows customs officers seizing the massive haul of cocaine destined for the EU in Moscow Oblast, Russia, on December 6.

Federal Security Service Public Relations Centre said: 'The FSB and the Federal Customs Service of Russia have detained members of the Colombian cartel 'Cali' red-handed while attempting to transport a particularly large batch of Latin American drugs to the countries of the European Union through the territory of Russia.

'A total of 570 kilogrammes [1,250 lbs] of cocaine were confiscated from them from illegal circulation, the wholesale value of which on the Russian black market is RUB 1.5 billion [GBP 11.7 million], and the retail value exceeds RUB 5.5 billion [GBP 43 million].'

They continued: 'The Investigative Department of the Russian FSB has opened and is investigating a criminal case against foreign drug dealers. They have been remanded in custody.'
