Heroic police officers rescued a motorhome stuck in heavy snow in northern Spain.

Authorities said the passengers, a man and woman from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, were heading to Villar del Rio on December 8.

A GPS error took them off the main road onto a snow-covered track in Avellaneda, an unpopulated area of San Roman de Cameros.

The pair spent the night in their recreational vehicle, hoping conditions would improve.

As the weather failed to improve, the Civil Guard quickly arrived after being contacted.

Special units, including the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM), the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), and the Murillo de Roo Leza Post, freed the vehicle and ensured the passengers' safety.
