A skinny best tried his best to win against a much larger sumo wrestler.

Footage shows the youngster facing a bigger opponent during a match in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand, on December 7.

When the referee gestured to start, he quickly stood up to push against the other kid but he was heavier than him.

He was pushed outside the ring and lost, but his friends cheered at his determination.

Rungruedi Kraiwong, who watched the match, said: 'They paired kids from the same age bracket and not weight category.'

Sumo wrestling is a traditional Japanese sport where two competitors face off in a circular ring. The goal is to force the opponent out of the ring or make any part of their body other than the soles of their feet touch the ground.
