Police raided a vape warehouse allegedly run by Chinese smugglers in Thailand.

The Economic Crime Suppression Division stormed the facility storing 6,800 imported e-cigarettes in Bangkok on December 10.

They arrested suspected ringleader Li, 37, and charged him with 'assisting in importing goods that had not undergone customs formalities' in violation of Customs Act Section 246.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Wanichaya Chaiyaprung of the Economic Crime Suppression Division said: ‘We handed over the suspect to the inquiry officer of Bangbon Police Station for further legal action. He admitted that he was the owner of these products.'

Investigations into the vape smuggling found that Li frequently changed his storage locations to evade authorities. He was finally nabbed while relocating products to a warehouse in the Bang Bon district of Bangkok.

In October, officials raided a Chinese-run vape warehouse also in Bangkok.

The Consumer Protection Police Division flagged the vape distributor after finding a website and Facebook page selling around 200 to 300 boxes of e-cigarettes a day that were delivered through a private courier.

Officials arrested the store owners during a delivery on October 8. A raid of their warehouse found 30,000 items, including vapes, vape juices, and related equipment, all totalling more than 10 million THB (232,000 GBP).

Vaping has been banned in Thailand since 2014, despite the products being easily purchased in the country.

Those caught vaping or even just possessing a vape could result in a fine of up to 30,000 THB (700 GBP), imprisonment of up to five years, or both.
