Doha, Qatar - December 10, 2024 Qatar's mediation efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza has renewed, expecting to secure a truce in the war and hostage exchange soon, a spokesman for the country's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, the spokesman, said at a press conference in Doha that Qatar is actively engaging with relevant participants in the Gaza ceasefire talks, listening to the positions of all parties and exchanging ideas with them through meetings and phone calls. Al Ansari said that Qatar has recently sensed some positive factors that are conducive to the advancement of negotiations, and the "momentum is back" to carry out ceasefire negotiations. But he also pointed out that positive connections does not mean that positive results will definitely be achieved. Earlier in November, Qatar's Foreign Ministry announced that it suspended its role as a key mediator for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal until Hamas and Israel show "seriousness" in talks.
