Policemen use sign language to save life of distressed deaf girl
This is the heartwarming moment policemen used sign language to rescue a distressed deaf girl in Thailand.
Police Sergeant Major Wiwat Khamsri and Police Corporal Chakkri Khamphimool of the Sattahip Police Station were out on patrol when they received a report about the troubled young woman, 20, in Chonburi province, early morning on December 10.
The lady was reported to have been slashing her neck with razor blades and jumping in front of trafic.
The cops drove to the scene near Sukhumvit Road and found the injured woman crying as she sat on the pavement.
Her friend said she was deaf and had gone into hysterics after accidentally breaking her phone at a bar. She was reportedly so distraught that she began inflicting injuries on herself.
Footage shows the officers patiently communicating with the girl through sign language, which they said they studied to help in critical situations. They also used their phones to type out longer messages.
After around an hour, they managed to calm the girl down and brought her back to her home.
The police officers have been praised for their sensitivity in resolving the matter.
