As a result of political tensions in Syria, 37 Indonesian migrant workers were returned to their homeland

A total of 37 Indonesian citizens (WNI), the majority of whom are migrant workers in the domestic sector or household assistant workers in a non-procedural (illegal) manner, arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia after being repatriated by the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus, Syria in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Indonesia on Thursday 12 December 2024.

The first wave of Indonesian citizens returning to Indonesia departed from Syria on December 10 2024 at 14.00 local time. They were sent home due to rising political tensions in Syria after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad's regime on Sunday (8/12/24).
