The agreement on mutual visa exemption between China and Thailand came into effect on March 1, marking the start of a "visa-free era" for both countries.
"Mountain city" Chongqing in southwest China has emerged as a popular traveling destination for Thai tourists.
According to China's online travel service provider Ctrip, from March to Nov. this year, the number of Thai tourists to Chongqing tripled from the same period of last year.
