Ankara earlier this week appointed Türkiye's Ambassador to Mauritania Burhan Koroglu as acting charge d'affaires at the Turkish embassy in Damascus.

On Saturday, NTV reported that the Turkish flag was hoisted again at the embassy in Damascus.
Türkiye closed its embassy in Damascus in 2012, citing escalating violence amidst the Syrian civil war.
