Los Angeles, United States - December 14, 2024 12/14/2024 04:29 am (GMT-0800) WEST COVINA, Calif. — Two people were killed early Saturday morning in a fiery crash on the westbound 10 Freeway near the Barranca Street exit in West Covina, authorities said. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Baldwin Park office and the West Covina Fire Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a traffic collision at 4:29 a.m. Callers later reported that the vehicle involved had begun to catch fire. When firefighters and officers arrived, they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames on the freeway's on-ramp. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes of the call, but two burned bodies were discovered inside the vehicle. It remains unclear whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. CHP closed the on-ramp to the westbound 10 Freeway at Barranca Street and issued a Sig Alert that was expected to last two to three hours as investigators worked to determine the cause of the collision.
