This is the dramatic moment when a helicopter rescues two people trapped by high tide in California.

The San Luis Obispo County Urban Search and Rescue team, in coordination with a CHP helicopter and the fire department, retrieved the kayakers at Central Coast Beach on December 11.

Local media reported that the duo was unable to make their way back to the road as the tide came in.

Bodycam footage shows one of the rescuers aboard the aircraft lowering a rope.

Upon successfully attaching the harness to one of the stranded men, they carefully hoisted him back to the rescue team waiting at the edge of the cliff.

No one reportedly sustained any serious injuries from what happened.
