Heroic rescue: Firefighters save calf trapped in 30-foot well
Firefighters successfully rescued a calf that had fallen into a 30-foot-deep well. The calf was unharmed in the incident and was safely returned to its owners.
The incident took place in Chathamangalam panchayat, Mukkam town of Kozhikode district, Kerala on December 15.
The visual shows the calf in a deep well, with a fire officer descending into the well using a rope and a harness. He ties the belt to the calf and climbs out. Together, they pull the calf out unharmed.
Speaking to Newslions Senior Fire Rescue Officer of Mukkam Fire Station Pious Augustin stated that the incident occurred at 8 AM when the calf, belonging to Ward 13 resident Kulangara Kandi Madhavan, plunged into a 10-foot wide, 30-ffoot deep well. The calf's owners quickly alerted the Mukkam Fire Department. A team led by Station Officer M Abdul Gafoor swiftly arrived on the scene and initiated a rescue operation. Using a rescue belt, body harness, and rope, the team carefully pulled the calf to safety.
Fire and Rescue Officer Niyaz descended into the well to assist in the operation, while Assistant Station Officer Grade Abdul Shukkur and Fire Officers V Salim, K Abhinesh, Anu Mathew, and Ratnarajan worked together to ensure a successful and safe rescue.
