A pious wife pulled the food from her husband's mouth to make him pray first before eating.

Je Fannie May Ong-iko was having a dinner date at a Chinese restaurant with partner Nicko, but he began guzzling noodles before they said grace.

Footage shows devout Je Fannie May yanking the threads of noodles from Nicko. He looked at his wife in shock before seemingly realising what he had forgotten to do.

The couple, both Catholics, then prayed before they enjoyed the food they ordered in Laguna, the Philippines, on December 7.

Je Fannie May said: 'We always pray first before we eat but my husband forgot. That was why I took the noodles from him. It was just an instinctive response.'

Catholicism was introduced to the Philippines by Spanish missionaries in the 16th century, and it quickly became the dominant religion in the country.

Over the centuries, the religion has become deeply ingrained in Filipino culture and society. Today, many Filipinos identify as Catholic not only because of their religious beliefs but also because of their cultural heritage.
