This is the amusing moment passengers catch a stowaway bird that was flying through a plane cabin.

The bird dodged security checks and fluttered aboard the aircraft as it was about to take off from New York on December 13.

Shocked travellers onboard the Boeing 777 laughed as the grey creature soared and darted through the aisles of the Boeing 777.

Footage shows ground staff and passengers attempting to catch the feathered creature.

Moments later, one of the travellers successfully snatched the avian with a blanket.

After securing the animal, he immediately exited the cabin, with passengers giving him a round of applause.

The filmer said: 'I didn't know how made it into the cabin. I kept quickly moving between the front and back, so other passengers began to try removing the animal, and finally, it was caught by a gentleman with a blanket.'

The Eva Air flight BR031 eventually left the John F. Kennedy Airport and arrived safely in Taipei, Taiwan.

The bird was unharmed in the encounter.
