A black bear rose from slumber to scratch her back on a tree.
Footage shows the animal named Fern waking up briefly from her hibernation to rub an itch on a trunk at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Pierce County, Washington on December 12.
Fern returned to her winter nap afterwards as documented by park rangers in the area.
Fern is a female black bear living in the wildlife park with her brother Benton.
They were rescued as orphans in Oregon in 2008 and moved to their new home in Northwest Trek.
