The Franklin Fire ravaged hillsides around Pepperdine University in Malibu.

Footage shows the blaze spreading in the area where it first broke out a day before in California on December 10.

Video shows the aftermath on December 11 with scorched patches of land in the school compound.

The fire was first reported on December 9 as a five-acre blaze on Malibu Canyon Road, quickly spreading due to gusty winds. More than 4,000 acres have been scorched.

Despite the ongoing threat, mandatory evacuation orders were lifted and downgraded to warnings on December 13, allowing some residents to return home.

Voluntary evacuation warnings are still in effect, but students at Pepperdine University near where it first broke out are safe.
