Gilbert, United States - December 15, 2024 At approximately 2:40 PM today, December 15th, a Chandler police vehicle was involved in a serious rollover crash at the intersection of Gilbert Road and Pecos in Gilbert, Arizona. While responding to a call with lights and sirens, the vehicle was struck by another car, causing it to roll over twice before coming to rest on its side. Both the officer and a ride-along passenger were trapped inside, necessitating extrication by emergency responders, who had to cut the roof off the vehicle to free them. Fortunately, despite the severity of the crash, a sergeant at the scene confirmed there were no fatalities. Chandler Police, Gilbert Police, and Chandler Fire Department, including a battalion chief and a forensic unit, were involved in the response and investigation. The westbound lanes of Pecos Road, which were closed for several hours, have since reopened after crews cleared the scene and completed their assessment.
