León, Spain - December 14, 2024 A Super Geminid meteor, the brightest in recent memory, captured the attention of skywatchers across Spain on December 14, 2024. Surpassing the moon’s brightness, the meteor streaked over the peninsula, with stunning sightings recorded in multiple locations, including León, Esparreguera, Barcelona, and Arroyomolinos in Cáceres. The meteor disintegrated at 62 km above sea level, between Astorga and León, making it the most luminous Geminid in 30 years of observation.
