A hand sanitiser dispenser sprayed holy water instead of alcohol at a church in the Philippines.

Footage shows the machine with a movement sensor spritzing water and shining UV light when Catholic devotee Dianne Trixia Boscado put her hand underneath at Saint Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine in Tagbilaran City on November 30.

The dispenser was covered with a picture of baby Jesus, Joseph, and Mary while a label in bold letter said 'holy water' was at the bottom.

Church-goer Dianne said: 'It was a modern holy water dispenser.'

Holy water is traditionally found in small basins and containers near the entrances of churches. However, the pandemic has pushed establishments to find more hygienic alternatives that reduce contact between people to avoid the spread of infection.
